Tony Jacklin to design Cuba’s latest golf course at The Carbonera Club
British developers the Esencia Group and their Cuban partners Palmares are delighted to announce their partnership with the Jacklin Design Group. Tony Jacklin CBE will assist in the design of the ocean fronting 18 hole championship course at The Carbonera Club www.thecarboneraclub.com. Located just outside Varadero on the islands spectacular northern coast, The Carbonera Club is a new five star resort, one of only four golf resorts under final negotiation on the island. The course will be complimented by a Jacklin Academy of Golf set within the other resort facilities, such as marina and spa, for pros and amateurs alike to enjoy.

Spaniard Wins in Dubai in Up-and-Down Round
Associated Press, 13 Feb 2011 Álvaro Quirós won the Dubai Desert Classic on Sunday in the United Arab Emirates with a wild round that included a hole in one and a triple bogey. The 70th-ranked Quirós, of Spain, shot a four-under-par 68 to finish at 11-under 277, one stroke ahead of Anders Hansen of Denmark (70) and James Kingston of South Africa (67). Tiger Woods and Sergio García each shot a 75 to finished tied for 20th at 284.
