The Montecristo Cup Golf Tournament is played at the luxurious beachfront Varadero Golf Club Cuba. The First Montecristo Cup Tournament was played on 2nd May 2009 by International and Cuban players with former World no. 1 Golfer Ernie Els as guest of honour and prize-giver.

In 2010 a single entry fee of £100 offers golfers the three days of Cuban Pro-Am golf. On Thursday 22nd April, registered players are welcome to play a practice round at the club and discover the course and attend the evening Welcome Cocktail Party. On Friday 23rd April, players compete after breakfast in a two-person team-play event to win the Esencia Cup. On Saturday 24th April, the same players compete in an individual event after breakfast to win the coveted Montecristo Cup. Prizes will be given by 2009 Quatar Masters Champion Alvaro Quiros.
